“I was born and brought up in Delhi. I came to Kerala to do my BBA. While doing BBA, I was anchoring a program called ‘Bloody Love’. Lal sir saw the program and he saw an album and so he called me for the audition. Me and my cousin went to meet Lal sir. During the audition, I was told that there were a group of people from which I had to single out a person and smile at him, not with my lips but with my eyes. I did that.”

“Then I was called to Calicut to meet MT sir. MT sir asked me about my background and asked me if I knew to read Malayalam. Then I was asked to wear ‘set mundu‘. But it was not available at first. Then somehow it was arranged and I wore it and presented myself before MT sir. Sir told me that I would be notified if I was selected.”

“I was informed about my selection one month after the audition. Until then I thought I hadn’t bagged the role because I am a very Delhi person. But then I was blessed to meet MT sir in person. This is not a chance that everyone gets. But two days before the movie pooja I was called and informed that I was selected. I was shocked and I asked ‘Is it for the main role or some other supporting role?‘.”

“And that is how I was selected to don the character of Kunjimalu.”

Asha Paul is a fresh face and she is being cast as the mother of Rathnam as a very aristocratic lady as the wife of a leading advocate. She is the wife of Pr. Paul Mani who is a friend of  the producer Suresh Kumar. Now there is a story behind Asha Paul, a very fragile story unlike the character she dons. She had an accident falling from a staircase during a trip to Ooty to visit her kids. This damaged her back and successive treatments further complicated her problems. At last she had Dr.Parthipan of KMCH replace 4 spinal discs and undergoing eleven surgeries. This results in the shots involving her from being from front.

Nandan would pass of as an ordinary youngster and in fact he is one. An assistant with art director Gokul he is an actor in the making . Well his smile is cute one can see him smiling happily on the sets and what makes it cute is that he doesn’t have two front teeth in the upper gum.  He dons the role of a manual labourer in the film. He first appeared in a song in Mulla. He is called as “Pengan” in the sets of Neelathaamara, well that being his pet name, who sticks around the Tharawad. Nandan lost his teeth in an accident and well he has managed to convert that to compliment his appearance. His positive throb lifts everyone in the sets. Never a dull moment when Nandan is around with his harmless comments and wits.

Actress Ambika, the female lead of 1979 movie Neelathaamara, paid a visit to the location of the remake version directed by Lal Jose. Kunjimalu was the name of the character played by Ambika in the 1979 version. In the remake version, Archana portrays the role of Kunjimalu.

On meeting her successor Archana, Ambika stated that she was seeing a younger version of herself in Archana. While on the set, she also shared her personal experiences on working in the yesteryear movie which was directed by Yusuf Ali Kechery.

The new Neelathaamara has Archana along with Kailash and Suresh donning the main characters. Incidently, Suresh is the younger brother of Ambika. The new version is directed by Lal Jose and scripted by M.T. Vasudevan Nair.
